All UNISON members and any family member aged 50 and above can join this health plan and you do not need to be retired to join. There are no medical questions to answer and you can stay on the plan as long as you wish.
Everyday healthcare costs such as trips to the dentist and optician, plus a wide range of therapy treatments and other cash paying benefits. There are many benefits included, please refer to the Premium and Benefits Table below; you’re covered according to the cover level you choose.
You can claim for pre-existing conditions on all the benefits listed.
If you are hospitalised as an In-Patient, you can claim a cash benefit for each night you spend in hospital, up to your policy limit. If you are aware you are going to need to claim on this benefit, simply call the claims department for a hospital claim form.
If after a hospital stay, your medical professional advises you to get complete rest or assistance; you can get Home Help after assessment by your local authority. You can then claim back any charges incurred if you need help cooking, cleaning, shopping etc.
There are many other benefits that you can take advantage of such as cash towards Hearing Aids and Repairs and also Surgical Appliances. Plus there is 24/7 access to a helpline for legal, medical or financial queries - almost any personal matter that may be causing concern to you, including identity theft and counselling.
There is a thirteen week qualifying period before you can claim. You can then claim 100% money back on your bills, as often as you’d like, according to the cover level you choose.
Simply pay your bill as normal, complete a claim form and return to us with your receipt and you will be receive your money back in a few days by cheque or bank transfer.
